The post holder will rotate through the elective ward, trauma ward and theatres. You will attend daily trauma meetings, ward rounds, clinics and operating sessions as required. Please note that this is a non-training post and therefore not approved by the Deanery. The post holder will, however, receive the same training and experience in line with the existing trainee doctors and be allocated an Educational Supervisor.
The Orthopaedic Surgery Department provides a comprehensive service in both acute and outpatient cases for the South West Trust and surrounding area. The majority of acute Orthopaedic trauma is directly referred from the Accident & Emergency Department. (Head injuries are dealt with by the Department of General Surgery).
