🏥 About the Role:

The Specialty Doctor in Acute Medicine will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality care within the Acute Medicine Department. Responsibilities include:

✅ Managing patients in the Acute Medical Unit (AMU), Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), and Short Stay Unit
✅ Active participation in unselected acute medical takes
✅ Leading the resuscitation team during emergencies
✅ Regularly undertaking night shifts 🌙
✅ Dedicated time for academic pursuits, including education, audit, and management development (potential for CESR support for more senior applicants) 📚

A supportive team of Consultants are always available for advice and supervision, ensuring a supportive and collaborative environment.

🩺 Key Requirements:

📜 Qualifications:

• Full GMC registration with a license to practice
• MRCP Part 1 or equivalent

🩹 Experience:

• At least 4 years of postgraduate training, including 2 years of Acute Medicine or similar commitments
• 12+ months of middle-grade experience in an Acute Medicine setting, ideally in the NHS or a similar healthcare system (UK/Ireland preferred)
• Confidence managing unselected acute medical admissions and leading resuscitation efforts 💪

🛠 Skills:

• Proficiency in basic procedural skills:
  🔵 Pleural taps
  🔵 Ascitic taps
  🔵 Lumbar punctures
• Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification required ✅
• Ability to effectively manage night shifts and emergency scenarios 🌌
