π₯ About the Role:
The Specialty Doctor in Acute Medicine will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality care within the Acute Medicine Department. Responsibilities include:

Managing patients in the Acute Medical Unit (AMU), Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC), and Short Stay Unit
β
Active participation in unselected acute medical takes
β
Leading the resuscitation team during emergencies
β
Regularly undertaking night shifts π
β
Dedicated time for academic pursuits, including education, audit, and management development (potential for CESR support for more senior applicants) π
A supportive team of Consultants are always available for advice and supervision, ensuring a supportive and collaborative environment.

π©Ί Key Requirements:
π Qualifications:
- Full GMC registration with a license to practice
- MRCP Part 1 or equivalent
π©Ή Experience:
- At least 4 years of postgraduate training, including 2 years of Acute Medicine or similar commitments
- 12+ months of middle-grade experience in an Acute Medicine setting, ideally in the NHS or a similar healthcare system (UK/Ireland preferred)
- Confidence managing unselected acute medical admissions and leading resuscitation efforts πͺ
π Skills:
- Proficiency in basic procedural skills:
π΅ Pleural taps
π΅ Ascitic taps
π΅ Lumbar punctures - Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification required β
- Ability to effectively manage night shifts and emergency scenarios π
