We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Consultant Clinical Oncologist with a special interest in Head & Neck and Colorectal Cancer to join an esteemed oncology department in South East England. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified oncologist who is committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care and contributing to the continued development of a leading cancer service.
Role and Responsibilities
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering exceptional care to patients. The role includes outpatient clinics, inpatient care, and treatment planning, offering opportunities to work with cutting-edge cancer treatments and techniques.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing specialist oncological care to patients with head and neck and colorectal cancer, including the use of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and other advanced therapeutic options.
- Leading outpatient clinics, where you will manage and review cancer patients throughout their treatment journey.
- Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, ensuring comprehensive care and the best outcomes for patients.
- Delivering radiotherapy treatments and providing chemotherapy regimens for both head and neck and colorectal cancer patients.
- Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTs) to discuss and manage complex cancer cases.
- Engaging in the on-call rota to provide timely and expert oncological support for inpatients and emergency cases.
- Supporting clinical audits, research projects, and the development of evidence-based clinical guidelines.
- Providing training and mentorship to junior clinical staff and medical students.
- Contributing to the department's continuous development through research, quality improvement initiatives, and participation in academic conferences.
The position is full-time and includes a balance of clinical duties with opportunities for research, professional development, and teaching. There is a requirement to participate in the departmental on-call rota.

The Requirements
Essential Criteria:
- Full registration with the GMC and a license to practice
- CCT (or equivalent) in Clinical Oncology or equivalent specialist training in Oncology
- Expertise in the management of head and neck and colorectal cancers, with experience in both chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment modalities
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to take part in the on-call rota and provide clinical leadership during complex cases
- A passion for teaching and mentoring junior medical staff
- Commitment to clinical research and quality improvement initiatives
Desirable Criteria:
- Additional qualifications or fellowship training in oncology, particularly in head and neck and colorectal cancers
- Experience in clinical leadership roles and involvement in departmental development
- Participation in national or international cancer research projects
- Knowledge of the latest advancements in cancer therapies and treatment protocols
