Consultant in Emergency Medicine 

Salary: £105,504 - £139,882 per annum

Location – South East London

Duration – 12 month fixed term contract (with a view to extend)

 

The Job:

Are you an ambitious and dynamic Emergency Medicine Consultant looking for an exciting new opportunity? Join our dedicated team where you will lead in delivering outstanding emergency care. Main Duties: 

  • Provide expert emergency care, ensuring high-quality treatment for patients.
  • Lead and support a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Contribute to medical education, mentoring junior doctors and students.
  • Engage in research, quality improvement, and clinical governance initiatives.
  • Participate in a consultant-led on-call rota covering 16-hour shifts and non-resident on-call support.

 

The hospital and the department:

The Trust is one of the UK’s largest and most prestigious teaching hospital groups. It is a busy district general hospital with a strong reputation for high-quality emergency care. The Emergency Department (ED) is an accredited Trauma Unit and hosts a regional Hyper-Acute Stroke Unit, providing specialist care for critically ill patients.

The department sees over 80,000 emergency attendances annually, with an additional 40,000 patients attending the Urgent Care Centre. Our services are tailored to meet the needs of a diverse patient population, including a significant proportion of elderly patients, leading to the development of frailty and silver trauma pathways.

It has a strong teaching and research focus, working in partnership with universities and other partners. As a consultant, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the education of medical students, junior doctors, and other healthcare professionals, as well as contribute to cutting-edge research in emergency medicine.

Requirements:

  • Full GMC Registration
  • FRCEM or equivalent
  • Within 6 months of CCT/CESR
