This exceptional Trust are looking for a General Medicine Consultant to join their esteemed team. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience within the field of Internal Medicine handling patients who are acutely unwell. Clinical leadership is a vital aspect of this role and you will play a key part in the delivery of outstanding patient care at the hospital. 

Main Duties: 

  • Conduct ward rounds independently.
  • Work to set timescales for the triage of referrals.
  • Complete all paperwork deemed necessary to support the management of patients.
  • Liaise with the service management team to ensure clinical goals are achieved.
  • Provide support over the phone for Registrars during overnights when a case needs to be escalated.  
  • Participate in any clinical audits and research projects involving General and Acute Medicine departments.
  • You will be expected to manage and train junior clinical members of department.

The hospital is a medium-sized district general hospital providing a full range of services to a population of 500,000 people. The hospital has a newly refurbished general medicine ward, so you’ll have access to state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. The workforce is made up of over 7,000 members of staff all from a range of cultures and backgrounds. The hospital is very welcoming of doctors from overseas, the team there are proud of the friendly family-like atmosphere that exists within departments.

The location:

The West Midlands is one of the most popular regions to live in the UK. A large section of it is made up of a close network of towns and cities, these include Birmingham, Coventry, Wolverhampton, Worcester, Dudley and Walsall. Despite the popularity of the region, cost of living here is still reasonably low. If you’re coming with a family, you’ll be glad to know that within 10 miles of the hospital there are plenty of schools rated ‘Outstanding’. 

Requirements:

To apply for this position, you will need the following:

  • GMC registration complete or in process
  • MRCP (UK)
  • Currently work independently
  • Strong background of internal medicine experience 
  • Evidence of management experience 

The following are preferred but not essential: 

  • GMC specialist registration 
  • Current NHS experience
