Consultant in Acute Medicine

This is a fantastic opportunity for doctors who are looking to establish their career in the NHS in Acute Medicine. This welcoming team are looking for doctors who can work independently, manage a team effectively, and provide high quality urgent care to patients.
Main Duties:
- Be responsible for the assessment, investigation and management of acutely unwell adult medical patients.
- Provide clinical leadership and senior decision making within the Acute Medicine team.
- Lead ward rounds.
- Work alongside the on-call team.
- Be responsible for the supervision and education of junior doctors and medical staffing.
- Liaise with Consultant colleagues in other specialties.
- Complete medical research and clinical audit as required.
The Hospital:
This Health Board has multiple acute sites and has over 1,100 inpatient beds across the different sites. There is an Acute Medical Unit (AMU), which caters to GP-referred patients, offering assessment and short-stay inpatient facilities, including an integrated acute frailty unit. Additionally, the team operates the Ambulatory Care Unit, providing outpatient and trolley-based assessment and treatment. They also assist other medical staff in managing ED referrals. Close support is available from various medical specialties, including Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Stroke Medicine, Cardiology, Care of the Elderly, Diabetes, and Endocrinology. The Health Board is committed to advancing ambulatory medicine and has an established Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) team. On-site support covers Medical and Acute Surgical specialties, Radiology, Obstetrics, Gynecology, Intensive Care, Hematology, and Orthopedics.

Requirements:
To apply for this position, you will need the following:
- Full MRCP or equivalent
- GMC Registration with license to practice.
- Consulting experience in General or Acute medicine.
- Experience of supervising Junior staff
- Ability to make independent decisions
