We are helping a distinguished NHS Trust in the West Midlands to recruit a Consultant in Acute Medicine. This role offers the chance to make a significant impact on patient care within a dynamic and supportive environment.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Providing comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients admitted to the Acute Medical Unit (AMU).
  • Leading and supervising a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Participating in the development and implementation of clinical protocols and guidelines to enhance patient care.
  • Contributing to the education and training of junior medical staff, nurses, and allied health professionals.
  • Engaging in quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits to promote evidence-based practice.
  • Participating in the on-call rota to provide continuous consultant-led care.
  • Collaborating with specialty teams to facilitate seamless patient transitions within the hospital.

The Requirements

Essential Criteria:

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and inclusion on the Specialist Register in Acute Medicine or General Internal Medicine, or eligibility for inclusion within six months of the interview date
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a wide range of acute medical conditions
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and involvement in teaching and training
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable Criteria:

  • Additional subspecialty interests that complement the existing services
  • Experience in quality improvement projects and clinical research
  • Familiarity with the development and implementation of clinical guidelines
