Consultant in Cardiology - Interest in Imaging

We are excited to present an opportunity for a skilled Consultant Cardiologist with an interest in imaging to join a leading NHS Trust in the midlands. You will be supporting a new CT Coronary Angiogram (CTCA) service and in due course, a Cardiac Rhythm Management (CMR) service. The team welcomes applications from new and experience Consultants looking to join a friendly and welcoming team.
Role and Responsibilities
This role offers the opportunity to cultivate specialist interests, with dedicated time for research, teaching, or sub-specialty focus based on the successful applicant's expertise. Key duties of the role include:
- Leading the diagnosis, treatment, and management of cardiovascular diseases within the department
- Undertaking outpatient clinics, diagnostic services, and procedural work, including participation in interventional cardiology where appropriate
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualised patient care plans
- Supervising and mentoring junior medical staff, providing guidance and support in clinical settings
- Contributing to the on-call rota as part of a consultant-led service, ensuring 24/7 cover for acute cardiac cases
- Actively participating in the development and delivery of clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives within the department
- Engaging in teaching and training programs, fostering the development of the next generation of medical professionals

- Advanced echocardiography services, including stress echo and transesophageal imaging

The Requirements
Essential Criteria:
- Full GMC registration with a license to practice
- Inclusion on the Specialist Register for Cardiology or evidence of eligibility within six months of the interview date
- Comprehensive experience in cardiology, including management of acute and chronic conditions
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
- Expertise in CTCA
Desirable Criteria:
- Subspecialty expertise in interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, or advanced cardiac imaging
- Evidence of teaching, research, or quality improvement initiatives
- Demonstrated leadership abilities in a clinical setting
- Higher Degree (MD/PhD)
- Formal qualification in other imaging modality (EACVI/CMR/BSE etc.)
