There are x2 Consultant in Oncology openings in established multidisciplinary teams in a University Hospital Trust in the Midlands. You’ll be expected to offer expertise and management of H&N and another tumour site of your choice and to get involved with research and trials. There are also regular educational meetings to present audits and discuss treatment management plans. The department is very diverse with many doctors working through CESR/Portfolio pathway, so a welcoming space for IMGs starting their first UK role. It is a 10PA job plan = 40 hours per week, and you can expect the following main duties and responsibilities:

  • Undertaking Clinical and managerial responsibilities for oncology subspecialties (H&N and preferred secondary)
  • Delivering SACT for specialist sites
  • Planning and contouring radiotherapy for specialist sites
  • Attending site specific multidisciplinary team meetings and participating in peer review meetings
  • Undertaking research and entering patients to clinical trials
  • Committing to clinical governance and participating in clinical audit and continuing medical education
  • Teaching undergraduates and supervising junior staff

Cancer Centre

The Trust cares for a population of over 1 million in the surround region. The Trust is closely partnered with the local University and committed to research, teaching, education, and innovation. The University offers a range of courses and education and provides globally recognized research. The research department continues to grow funded research activity and encourages research-inspired education. There is a comprehensive clinical trials unit supported by dedicated research nurses.

The Consultant roles are based in the main Cancer Centre in the University Hospital site. The Cancer Centre is well-staffed by Consultants, Specialty Doctors, Registrars, Clinical Fellows and Junior Doctors. There’s an oncology inpatient ward, outpatient clinics and oncology assessment unit. The radiotherapy department provides state-of-the-art treatment including SABR and Brachytherapy. The equipment includes TrueBeam linear accelerators, ARIA Oncology management system, Canon Aquilion CT scanner and Superficial treatment unit.

Requirements

  • GMC Registered with License to Practice (essential)
  • Ability to practice independently at consultant level (essential)
  • FRCR, MRCP or equivalent post-graduate qualification (desirable)
