Are you an experienced radiographer with NHS experience, seeking to advance your career in breast imaging? This role offers the opportunity to work within a dedicated team, providing exceptional care to patients across the West Midlands.
Role and Responsibilities
- Clinical Expertise: Utilise advanced clinical skills to perform image interpretation, breast ultrasound, image-guided biopsies, and pre-operative localization procedures. You will provide clinical opinions and diagnoses, working autonomously while adhering to Trust protocols and policies.
- Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Serve as a key member of the multidisciplinary team, offering expert professional advice to medical consultants, other healthcare professionals, patients, and their carers. Your role will involve presenting biopsy cases at multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, ensuring comprehensive patient care.
- Service Development: Collaborate with Consultant Radiologists and the Radiology Management Team to deliver a high-quality, patient-focused breast imaging service. You will be actively involved in clinical supervision, peer review, and the vetting of breast imaging requests, optimizing the use of available appointments and resources.
- Training and Mentorship: You will receive support and mentorship to develop the necessary skills to function effectively in this consultant role.

The Requirements
Essential:
- Professional Registration: Hold current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Educational Qualifications: Possess a Master's degree (MSc) in a relevant field or be prepared to undertake this level of study.
- Advanced Practice Experience: Demonstrated experience as a Clinical Specialist or Advanced Practitioner in breast imaging, within an NHS setting.
- Clinical Skills: Proficiency in image interpretation, breast ultrasound, image-guided biopsies, and pre-operative localisation procedures.
- Communication Skills: Ability to provide expert professional advice to medical consultants, other professionals, patients, and their carers.
Desirable:
- Leadership Experience: Experience in leading service developments and redesign initiatives within a breast imaging context.
- Teaching and Mentorship: Experience in clinical supervision, peer review, and mentoring junior staff.
