This is an exciting Consultant Rheumatologist position in a welcoming and well-established department within a dynamic healthcare setting. This role offers an opportunity to shape services, support an expert team, and deliver outstanding care to a diverse patient population.
Role and Responsibilities
As a Consultant Rheumatologist, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality clinical services. This is a full-time position, with an option to explore specialist interests, such as connective tissue diseases, metabolic bone disease, or early inflammatory arthritis, depending on your expertise.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing outpatient rheumatology clinics, focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of a wide spectrum of rheumatological conditions
- Leading and supporting a multidisciplinary team that includes specialist nurses, physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals
- Contributing to the development and delivery of clinical pathways to ensure patient-centred care
- Participating in teaching and training sessions for junior doctors and other team members
- Supporting research and audit activities, enhancing the department's contribution to evidence-based practice
- Involvement in the on-call rota, which provides an excellent work-life balance with no general medicine commitments

The Requirements
Essential Criteria:
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
- MRCP or equivalent
- Inclusion on the Specialist Register in Rheumatology (or eligibility within six months of interview)
- Demonstrated expertise in managing a broad range of rheumatological conditions
- Commitment to teaching, clinical audit, and service development
Desirable Criteria:
- Additional subspecialty interest in areas such as connective tissue diseases or osteoporosis
- Evidence of research activity, including publications or presentations at professional conferences
- Leadership experience within a multidisciplinary team
