Locum Consultant in Acute Medicine
- £105,104 – £139,882
- North West
- Fixed
An exciting opportunity has come up in the North West of England, for a fantastic UK-experienced doctor looking for another Acute Medicine Consultant role. The Trust are immensely supportive and want to work with a Consultant through the CESR process to help them become a substantive Consultant.
Main Duties:
- As an Acute Medicine Consultant, you will be providing day cover to both the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit and the Acute Medical Unit (AMU). You will cover one of these at a time, with the shift assigned.
- The role is 10 PAs (40 hours) per week, including 1.5 SPAs, and 1.5 Admin time.
- You will be expected to cover 7 weekend shifts per year.
- As a senior member of the team you are also expected to be involved in the teaching and training of junior doctors, nurses, undergraduate students, and other members of the team.
The Hospital:
The recently re-built hospital has around 500 beds, with the majority of these being in-patients. The hospital provides services for a population of approximately 350,000.
The department are very supportive and welcoming, and will aid your clinical governance by providing audit meetings, teaching sessions, and lots of other encouragement to help you pursue your non-clinical interests.
It is encouraged for the Consultant to develop a sub-specialty interest, and have a close relationship with another relevant department, such as Gastroenterology, Cardiology or Geriatrics.
The location:
The hospital is based in a city in the North East of England, not far from the beautiful scenes of the Lake District. This means that you get the best of both worlds, easy access to all the benefits of a large city, while also getting the slightly more relaxed lifestyle feel of living amongst the UK’s greatest landscapes. This makes it a good place to raise a family, take a hike in the countryside, or take a shopping trip into the city. An added bonus is that it has a very low cost of living compared with much of the rest of the UK.
Requirements:
To apply for this position, you will need the following:
- NHS Experience at either the Specialist or Consultant grade
- Full MRCP or equivalent
- OET / IELTS
