Locum Consultant Anaesthetist

We are working with a brilliant NHS Trust in the North Midlands to offer a Locum Consultant post in Anaesthesia. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced anaesthetist to work in a hospital that is expanding its services and offering the chance to shape the future of anaesthetic care in a growing department.

Role and Responsibilities

You will primarily undertake clinical anaesthetic duties in the theatre suite, covering a range of specialties. 

As part of the role, you will:

• Provide anaesthesia support across a range of clinical settings, including theatres, obstetrics, and intensive care units (ITU)
• Supervise junior medical staff and take part in departmental, academic, and audit meetings
• Engage in Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities as required by the Royal College of Anaesthetists
• Participate in a 1 in 6 on-call rota covering theatres, obstetrics, and ITU services

The Requirements

Essential:

• Full GMC registration and license to practice
• Experience in general anaesthesia and critical care
• Ability to manage anaesthesia in a variety of specialities
• Commitment to teaching and education in clinical settings

Desirable:

• Higher training or equivalent experience in ITU or obstetric anaesthesia
• ALS/ATLS/APLS Provider or Instructor
• Experience in medical education and peer-reviewed publications
