We are working with a distinguished NHS Trust to recruit a dedicated Locum Consultant in Paediatrics. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a dynamic paediatric department renowned for its commitment to exceptional patient care.
Role and Responsibilities
You will join a team of 10 acute paediatric consultants operating on a 1:10 rota. The department employs a 'hot week' system, wherein the consultant of the week is on call for general paediatrics, with clinics suspended during this period to focus on acute care. Your responsibilities will include attending daily handovers, providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care, and participating in the on-call rota to ensure continuous consultant presence. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development and supervision of junior medical staff, engage in clinical governance activities, and support the department's quality improvement initiatives.
The Hospital
The hospital is a leading provider of paediatric services, offering a comprehensive range of medical and surgical specialties for children. The paediatric department comprises multiple inpatient wards, including day case, surgical, medical, and infectious diseases/oncology units, alongside a 12-bed intensive care/high dependency unit with step-down facilities. The hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, such as a 3T Intraoperative MRI scanner, enhancing neurosurgical precision and reducing the need for repeat operations. The institution is also recognized as a Department of Health Centre for Head and Face Surgery and serves as a designated Children's Major Trauma Centre.
The Location
The hospital is situated in a vibrant cathedral city in the West Midlands, known for its picturesque countryside, rolling hills, and historic architecture. The region boasts excellent educational institutions and recreational facilities providing an ideal environment for professionals and families alike. The community is known for its welcoming atmosphere and commitment to healthcare excellence, making it a rewarding place to live and work. Residents also benefit from great public transport links, with over 72% of homes being within a 200 metre walk of a bus stop or train station.
