Queensland, 1hr to Brisbane

Main Duties: 

  1. Emergency Medical Care: Provide emergency medical care under the guidance and supervision of senior medical staff. This includes assessing, diagnosing, and managing patients presenting in the emergency department.
  2. Patient-Centered Approach: Strive to ensure the best possible outcome for every patient, every time, in line with the departmental charter, which focuses on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
  3. Investigation and Management: Ensure that each patient under your care receives appropriate investigations, management plans, and dispositions. This involves collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive treatment.
  4. Clinical Procedures: Undertake any necessary clinical procedures as part of your patient care, within the limits of your training and experience. You must also ensure that all procedures are performed safely and effectively.
  5. Communication: Maintain high levels of communication with all involved parties, including patients, clinicians, clerical staff, and family members. Effective communication ensures that everyone is informed about the patient's condition, treatment plans, and progress.
  6. On-call Roster Participation: Participate in the on-call roster as assigned by the Director of the Emergency Department, ensuring that services are provided outside of regular working hours when necessary.
  7. Education and Training: Actively participate in scheduled education sessions relevant to your role, contributing to continuous professional development and improving clinical practice.
  8. Research, Audit, and Quality Activities: Engage in departmental research, audit, and quality activities, contributing to the ongoing improvement of service delivery, clinical practices, and patient outcomes within the department.


The Hospital:

This Urban District Hospital deliver services across General Surgery, Obs & Gyn, General Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Pathology, Paediatrics, Pathology, Gastroenterology, Imaging and mental health services.

The newly developed emergency department sees more than 50,000 attendances per year, 20% of which are paediatric patients. The department runs 24-7 emergency care, and is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment tools, ensuring the most efficient and highest quality of patient care.

Requirements:

To apply for this position, you will need the following:

  • General Registration with Medical Board of Australia.

OR

  • UK or Irish graduates, and a minimum of two years’ clinical experience.

OR

  • 12 months NHS experience and completion of PLAB examinations.

In addition to:-

  • MBBS or equivalent.  
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Emergency Medicine.
