This Trust are seeking a highly-skilled UK experienced doctor to work in Acute Medicine as a Senior Clinical Fellow across their two hospitals.

As a Senior Clinical Fellow, you will work closely with a team of Consultants, ST3+ Trainee Registrars, Junior Clinical Fellows, and FY1s to manage patients who present acute and chronic medical conditions. 

Main Duties: 

  • As an Acute Medicine middle grade, you will be required to take a senior role in the assessment and management of patients who present acute medical issues. 
  • Attendance at out-patient clinics as appropriate
  • You’ll be expected to work the Medicine on call rota, which is equivalent to the ST3 trainee rota. 
  • It will be necessary to take an active role in the teaching of junior medical staff and provide daily supervision and mentoring. 
  • You’ll be required to keep your clinical skills up to date with regular Clinical Governance. You will be granted study leave to help with this. 
  • Assessment and management of patients in ambulatory care settings
  • You will be expected to complete an audit, aided by regular audit meetings.

The Hospital:

The Trust encompasses two hospitals, and the role will be cross site. Providing healthcare services to a population of over 750,000 and counting, the hospitals care for both urban and rural communities. The hospitals have Acute Medical Units, Short Stay Wards, Ambulatory Care Units and SDEC.

The location:

You’ll be based in the South East of England just a 15 minute train ride into journey from London. Here you get the best of both worlds with living extremely close to Central London but also having a peaceful life outside the city, with a lower cost of living too.

The area has a a range of attractive towns and villages to choose from, making it a great place to both work and live. Being a half an hour train ride from the coast, you will get the benefit of choosing between a coastal walk or a city day trip on your time off.

As well as that, there are excellent transport links to get anywhere across the country, if you wanted to travel to Birmingham, it is just under two and a half hours on the train and to Manchester It is just under four hours.

If you want to travel abroad, the nearest airport (London City Airport) is just a fourteen-minute drive, while Heathrow is under an hour and a half on the train. 

The standard of local schooling local to the hospital is fantastic. It’s a safe, family-friendly area to live in which benefits from a good mix of urban and rural style of living.

Requirements:

  • GMC registration with license to practice
  • Full MRCP
  • ALS
  • 12 months of UK experience
