The team are looking for an experienced individual to join a committed group of clinicians in delivering Paediatric services at this large district general hospital.
The successful applicant will be joining an enthusiastic, dedicated team who cover a wide range of different specialties and provide general Paediatric and Neonatal care.
Main Duties:
As a Senior Clinical Fellow in General Paediatrics and Neonatology you will be expected to:
- Be responsible for patients on the acute children’s ward.
- Provide cover for Paediatric A&E.
- Supervise and teach the ST1-ST3 doctors on the Acute Children’s wards and Paediatric Day Bed Unit.
- Triage, assess, and manage CYP admitted to Observation Bay.
- Be responsible for the children of CYP from the Paediatric Observation Ward to their home, acute ward or other medical professionals.
- Be responsible for referrals from numerous sources, GP, Maternity, ED for the Observation Ward.
- Be responsible for discharge and subsequent care planning of CYP from observation bay to their home, acute ward or other medical professionals.
- Participation in supervised clinics.
- Cover nights and weekends on the Acute on-call rota (1 in 10 SpR rota).
The Hospital:
This is an 800-bed district general hospital, rated “Good” by the CQC. The Paediatric Department covers a large child population of over 100,000.
The Location:
The Southeast is one of the most popular areas to live in the UK. With close links to London and major international airports, but a lower cost of living than the capital, residents enjoy a high standard of living.
- The hospital is situated in a town which is just a 30-minute train journey from London. Residents can take advantage of cheaper housing than London while still being very close by.
- It has a population of around 300,000, and as a university town has a good mix of entertainment and attractions.
- This area has a very high concentration of great schools, with several rated as “Outstanding” by Ofsted.
- The town is also closely situated to Heathrow Airport as well as Luton and Southampton Airports.
- Cosmopolitan area that is very welcoming of overseas doctors.
Requirements:
The team are open to applicants from the UK or from overseas and will support you in settling into the new role.
To apply for this position, you will need the following:
- Full MRCPCH.
- Full GMC registration with license to practice.
- Registrar level experience in Paediatrics and Neonatology.
- Life support course, e.g. APLS, NLS, etc.
- Previous teaching experience.
- Previous management and Audit experience.
