This is an exciting opportunity to join a reputable level 3 centre in the South West of England. The hospital is looking for a Neonatology Senior Clinical Fellow to join their department following expansion plans. The opportunity is available for any doctors who have a strong interest in Neonatology. This role will be great for a doctor who has registrar experience in the NHS already, but who is looking to now specialize in Neonatology in the long-term.


Main Duties: 

  • Provide leadership in resuscitating and intubating extreme cases. Infants are often born before 28 weeks gestation.
  • Work as part of the on-call rota handling emergencies on the neonatal ward. It’s a 1 in 12 rota at the moment, subject to change.
  • Work in follow-up assessment and outpatient clinic.
  • Develop practical skills which include neonatal stabilisation and resuscitation, airway management, central lines insertion, POCUS etc.
  • Arrange discharge planning and liaise with other teams for transfer to and from the Neonatal unit.
  • Provide leadership on the clinical floor for junior doctors. This will include teaching and supervising them for their Neonatal procedures.
  • Take part in undergraduate teaching for medical students based in department.
  • Actively participate in clinical governance activities and audits.   


The Hospital & Department:

The hospital is a large teaching hospital serving a population of approximately 500,000 people. The Children’s Unit is split into two separate Paediatrics and Neonatology departments, each with their own consultants and rotas. The hospital is rated ‘Good’ by the CQC. The department here is known for being supportive and welcoming of any new starters. Continuous education and development for doctors is widely encouraged, so if you’re motivated to learn this hospital is a great place to work.

You’ll be based in a vibrant city in the South West of England.  

The city is known for its cultural diversity. There is a strong sense of community which can be felt around the city and when attending numerous community events which create a sense of belonging. 

The mix of ethnicities and communities are seen through the city’s festivals, events and mass international cuisine.  

The city is full of life day and night with endless things to do. The beautiful city hosts major sporting events and is home to numerous theaters, galleries music venues offering lots of fun for young adults and families. 

 

Requirements:

To apply for this position, you will need the following:

  • Eligible for GMC registration. 
  • MRCPCH or equivalent by examination.
  • Previous experience in Neonatology (level 3 if overseas, level 2 if in UK) 
  • APLS /NLS/NRP
  • Level 3 Child safeguarding
