The Job
Are you a skilled Specialist (Consultant) Anaesthetist looking for an exciting role in a regional hospital with a strong community focus? BDI Resourcing are seeking an Anaesthetist to provide high-quality anaesthesia services and contribute to clinical leadership, education, and quality improvement initiatives.
As a key member of the Anaesthesia Department, you will be responsible for pre- and peri-operative anaesthetic care for surgical and obstetric patients, participate in emergency response and high-dependency patient management, and collaborate with GP Anaesthetists and multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Functions
- Provide anaesthetic services for:
✅ General Surgery, Obstetrics, Orthopaedics, ENT, Urology, and Dental Procedures
✅ High-dependency patient management and emergency anaesthesia
✅ Acute pain management and perioperative care - Supervise GP Anaesthetists, junior doctors, and medical trainees.
- Engage in multidisciplinary team discussions and care planning.
- Participate in the on-call anaesthesia roster.
- Ensure safe, evidence-based, patient-centred anaesthesia practice.
Education & Training
- Supervise and train medical students, RMOs, and specialist anaesthesia trainees.
- Provide clinical mentorship and ongoing professional development support.
- Engage in continuing medical education and skill development.
Quality & Safety
- Contribute to morbidity & mortality reviews and clinical governance initiatives.
- Participate in audit, research, and quality improvement activities.
- Ensure adherence to SA Health policies and patient safety standards.

Requirements:

✔ Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) or equivalent.
✔ Specialist Registration or eligibility for Specialist Registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
✔ Strong clinical expertise in anaesthesia and perioperative medicine.
✔ Excellent leadership, teaching, and communication skills.
✔ Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and professional development.
Desirable Criteria:
