We are thrilled to partner with one of the seven Health Boards in Wales, seeking a Middle Grade doctor to join the Oncology department in a clinic and ward-based role. This small district general hospital is ideal for doctors starting their first role within the NHS.

This is an excellent opportunity for an international medical graduate to join a small, welcoming department that offers a comprehensive induction into the NHS. The varied role, covering both Oncology and Acute care, is perfect for someone aiming to progress through the CESR route to specialist registration.

As a smaller unit, there is significant potential for internal promotion to Specialist and advancement to Locum Consultant. The Oncology department has a strong record of supporting doctors after core medical training, helping them move to middle grade and senior roles, and assisting with MRCP exams and applications for specialist registration with the GMC.

The job plan is highly flexible, making it ideal for an Oncologist with experience in Acute Oncology looking to kick-start their career in the NHS. If this sounds like the opportunity you're looking for, look no further!

The Trust/Service

The Hospital in West Wales is uniquely situated in the middle of the coast and is proud to be one of the smallest acute District General Hospitals in the UK.

The hospital has developed a reputation of innovation and forward-thinking and has led the way in adopting new technology to enhance clinical services. Cancer MDT’s, Neurology Clinics and other services utilise teleconferencing facilities to provide local access to Tertiary Services.

The department has no radiotherapy services on this particular hospital site, and so patients are referred to another one of the Health Boards hospitals for this.

Location

The town is a vibrant holiday destination with beautiful beaches just a stone's throw away. The town offers a variety of recreational activities, including an indoor heated swimming pool and tennis courts right in the town center. Conveniently, the hospital is only a ten-minute walk from the main shopping area.

While public transport runs regularly between the town and surrounding rural areas, it's worth noting that services in more remote locations can be less frequent. Nonetheless, the area provides a charming and lively atmosphere with plenty to enjoy year-round.

The responsibilities for this position are flexible and will be discussed with successful applicants during and after the interview, making it a unique and exciting opportunity.
