Main Duties:

Join an exciting and dynamic team as a Specialty Doctor in our Emergency Department! Alongside two talented registrars (ST4-ST6), you will be integral to providing a comprehensive 24-hour middle grade rota, ensuring our department runs smoothly around the clock. This full-time position (10 sessions) offers a competitive salary, including a recruitment and retention bonus for two sessions, and the opportunity to make a real impact in patient care.

You'll work just one weekend in four and one set of nights every eight weeks, with plenty of days off to maintain a healthy work-life balance. As a key member of the team, you will collaborate closely with the shift coordinator to guarantee timely and safe patient management, ensuring those in observation beds receive accurate diagnoses. You'll have the chance to assist consultants with morning rounds, lead trauma teams, and support the cardiac arrest team when needed.

Your role will also involve reviewing X-ray reports, coordinating follow-up care for missed fractures, and taking a proactive role in our departmental teaching program for junior staff. You will be expected to contribute to departmental audits, including the crucial trauma call audit, all while maintaining your professional development through access to courses, meetings, and a wealth of learning opportunities.

With weekly grand rounds, a monthly X-ray meeting, and regular middle-grade teaching, there is never a shortage of opportunities for growth and education. We also encourage attendance at regional training days, ensuring you're always at the cutting edge of Emergency Medicine. Plus, the role includes one session per week dedicated to supporting your professional activities—ensuring you can continually progress and thrive in your career.

The Hospital:

Join a forward-thinking trust that boasts two bustling Emergency Departments, including a dedicated Trauma Unit, where every day is an opportunity to make a real impact! In 2018/2019 alone, we treated over 120,000 new patients—each with complex and high-dependency needs that reflect the unique demographics of our local community. This is where your skills will truly be put to the test, as you care for patients whose needs are above the national average.

The Trust is committed to developing Urgent Care services tailored to the needs of our population, ensuring we remain at the forefront of the healthcare landscape. As part of this mission, we are proud to offer accredited Specialist Registrar training opportunities, with both sites actively contributing to TARN and running dedicated trauma committees, led by a dedicated Trauma Audit Coordinator. Our hospitals are equipped to provide cutting-edge care, running ATLS courses and offering a 24/7 E.N.P. service on both sites to support our team.

This is a unique chance to be part of a fast-paced, highly supportive environment where your expertise will be crucial to shaping the future of emergency care.
