This is a great opportunity for a senior doctor who has a strong interest in Geriatric Medicine to participate and grow with a friendly team. You will work with colleagues closely and aim to advance the services in all different areas by providing great knowledge and experience.
You will join 10 other senior members of staff in Medicine for Older People and Stroke, this includes non-medical staff too.
Main Duties:
- This is a 40 hour role (10 PA contract)
- You have the option to work on the on-call Rota if you wish
- CESR support is provided for this position for those who want to become a consultant
- Work in the Medicine for Older People department and Frailty department
- You can work in all areas of Geriatric Medicine including community work.
- Educational supervisor will be provided and a mentor.
- If you have a specialty interest also that can be explored
- You will have specific SPA time and office space is provided
- Teach and supervise junior doctors, medical students and nurses on a regular basis.
- You will be expected to diagnose, treat and manage elderly patients who present a variety of medical conditions.
The Hospital:
The hospital is a medium-sized district general hospital that has just over 400 beds, it provides a full range of general, acute and ED departments. You will be part of a flexible, family friendly department so those with young children will be supported as much as possible.
THE Department of Medicine for Older People includes one acute medical ward of 23 beds, a sub-acute step downward of 23 beds and 22 bedded acute stroke and neurology unit. There is also an established ortho-geriatrics service.

- GMC registration complete or in process.
- Relevant postgraduate qualification (MRCP, USMLE, PLAB, Sri Lankan MD etc.)
- IELTS/OET complete
- Two years of Registrar experience overseas or in the UK
