- £59,175 - £95,400
- UK, North East
- Permanent
A brilliant NHS Trust in North East England is looking for a Specialty Doctor in Community Paediatrics. This is an integral role within a progressive and well-supported child health service. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute meaningfully to children’s health and development in a thriving region of the UK.
Role and Responsibilities
In this role, you will provide high-quality care within a multidisciplinary community paediatrics team. Your key duties will include:
- Attending specialist and general paediatric clinics across various community sites.
- Supporting the Medical Advisor for Adoption and Fostering, Designated Medical Officer for SEND, or the Named Doctor for Looked After Children, depending on your skills and interest.
- Contributing to services for neurodisability and neurodiversity, including cerebral palsy, neurogenetic, and neuromuscular conditions.
- Working closely with multidisciplinary teams including CAMHS, complex disability teams, palliative care, and specialist tertiary services.
- Participating in service development, quality improvement, and ongoing education of colleagues and trainees.
The Hospital
We are working with one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in the region, operating across two main sites. The Trust serves a large local population with wider responsibility for tertiary services across a broader area. Facilities include a full suite of paediatric services, both inpatient and community-based, and strong links to a regional medical school.
The Trust employs over 10,000 staff and has a substantial annual budget, allowing for significant investment in service development, staff training, and research. The community paediatric team is part of a larger, integrated children’s health division, with access to modern facilities and a supportive leadership team.
The Location
This role is based in a diverse and welcoming part of the UK, offering a blend of urban energy and rural calm. The area provides an affordable cost of living, a strong sense of community, and a variety of housing options.
Local amenities include cultural venues, excellent schooling, green spaces, and good transport links to other major UK centres. Whether you're looking for a dynamic city lifestyle or a quieter pace in the countryside, the area has something to offer all professionals and their families.
The Requirements
Essential Criteria:
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
- Strong clinical skills in community paediatrics, including experience with safeguarding, neurodisability, and developmental conditions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Evidence of participation in teaching, clinical governance, and service development.
Desirable Criteria:
- Additional qualifications or training in relevant subspecialties (e.g. neurodisability, safeguarding).
- Experience in clinical research or service innovation.
- Familiarity with national guidance and statutory responsibilities related to paediatrics.
