This Trust are seeking highly skilled and experienced Registrars to work in Acute Medicine. The site is just under 400 beds, providing a highly supportive environment.

As a Registrar, you will work closely alongside a team of consultants, junior doctors and nurses to manage chronically and acutely ill patients. You will lead the assessment, diagnosis and management of patients. 

In addition, you will be tasked with the teaching and training of junior members of the clinical team. Therefore, your role in the hospital as part of the Acute Medicine team will be vital. As a result, this is a great opportunity for those who want to get their core competencies signed for training or those who want to pursue a career in Acute Medicine. The department are also willing to provide support to experienced doctors with CESR.

Main Duties: 

  •  As an Acute Medicine registrar, there will be a requirement to take a senior role in the assessment and management of acutely ill patients.
  • There will be an expectation to work the Acute Medicine on call rota. This usually involves a 1 in 8 rota, this is subject to change.
  • You’ll have to attend MDT meetings (Multi-Disciplinary Team) to discuss patients who present problems across a variety of medicine specialties.
  • Being a registrar requires you to take an active role in the teaching of junior doctors, nurses, and medical students.
  • You will be granted study leave as you will be expected to keep your clinical skills up to date with regular CPD.  
  • Working to Trust guidelines and keeping patient records.

The hospital is a medium-sized hospital which acts a central location for the Trust it’s in. It has a constant hub of acutely ill patients flowing through the hospital granting exposure to all medical cases. The reputation for teaching and training at the hospital is excellent. The hospital has a great history of helping doctors complete CESR for specialist registration allowing you to really focus on your career. It’s a fantastic place to go if you’re looking for somewhere that will help you develop and push on as a clinician.

You have the choice of living in some amazing rural locations or if you prefer a more urban lifestyle, then you can live in cities like Bristol, Exeter and Plymouth. 

You can travel to London in an average of 2 hours! We also understand how important it is to stay connected with loved ones who are overseas,  there are two major airports less than 1 hour and 15 minutes away from you making that journey a bit easier.

Requirements:

  • IELTS or OET
  • Full MRCP
  • UK experience
  • Recent exposure to the acute unselected take
