The Acute Medicine Directorate has recently restructured the service for acute medical admissions. This has increased consultant input to front-line care, diagnosis and clinical management during the initial 24-48 hours following admission. The trust are seeking to lead in developing high quality care in Acute Medicine, including the increasing focus on ambulatory care services, and the development of a medical HDU. The Clinical Fellows are key members of a dedicated junior team for Acute Medicine and are pivotal to the appropriate assessment and management of acutely unwell adult patients.
