We are looking to recruit three Trust Grade SHO in Trauma and Orthopaedics to work within multi-disciplinary team on a fixed term basis for 12 months. Based in the East Midlands, you will be joining a department of over 20 Consultant Surgeons with specific interests in the different sub-specialities.
This excellent Trust Grade SHO position provides excellent training and exposure to complex trauma and elective practices. There is an opportunity to be part of a busy but very close knit team.
The job plan includes various training opportunities whilst working as part of a full-time rota covering ward based duties (Paeds, Trauma and Elective), day on-calls, night on-call etc.

The post holder will be required to participate in a 1 in 6 middle grade non-resident on call rota for Trauma and Orthopaedics.
The Trust recognises the importance of continuing medical education / professional development and the successful candidate will be required to participate in the weekly departmental educational programme.
The timetable includes substantial theatre time, clinics, ward rounds and on call commitments as well as protected time for research and admin. The department is committed to education and there are two formal multidisciplinary educational meetings each week on top of the daily trauma meetings.
The successful candidate will be expected to take part in audit, research and education. They will also be expected to attend appropriate surgical courses for which a study leave budget will be available. The department is committed to supporting the fellow in furthering their skills as a surgeon.
Our Team consists of 12 Orthopaedic Consultants, 3 Associate Specialists, 6 middle-grade Speciality Doctors, 3 SPRs (ST3), two CT’s, one Trust Doctor (at CT level), two foundation year 2 doctors and 3 foundation year 1 doctors.
The local City and community served by the Trust is highly diverse with a complex mix of clinical and cultural needs. Good working relationships, strong multi-agency working arrangements and integrated pathways already exist between hospital and community health services, primary care, local authority and mental health services.
You must have MRCS or equivalent, full GMC registration with licence to practice and at least 2 years’ experience at middle grade level.

The applicant should have Experience working at middle grade/registrar level within Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, equivalent to a level at ST4/5The post is not educationally recognised by the postgraduate dean, however you will have access to teaching and training as required.
