You will be expected to have or develop a subspecialist interest in more than one area.
All areas of expertise will be considered depending on the interests of the applicant. Urological, gastro-intestinal, breast, renal, skin and respiratory pathology are the subspecialist areas of greatest need although additional support would also be helpful in gynaecological pathology.
The cellular pathology laboratory (histology, cytology and neuropathology) is in a purpose-built facility.
The department operates a subspecialist system of reporting serviced by teams of consultants.
The Royal College Workload matrix is utilised as a guide to enable an equitable distribution of work and for use as a tool for medical workforce planning. Flexible working for part of contracted hours is under evaluation.
The department is in the process of implementing digital pathology.

BDI Resourcing are searching for an international doctor to fill the position of Specialty Doctor of Microbiology within an NHS Trust in Greater Manchester.
Role
You will join a close team of Microbiologists and infectious disease Clinicans providing high standardss of infection management, laboratory microbiology, infection prevention and control. The Microbiology department comprises bacteriology, serology, mycology and parasitology.
The successful candidate will be expected to work across the hospital sites to provide clinical advice, antimicrobial stewardship, and infection prevention and control services. The out-of-hours on-call duty is shared equally.
As a team-player and excellent communicator, you will be involved in planning changes to working practices and developing services. Supervising the day to day work in a section of the laboratory you will ensure that high standards are maintained.
