Location – London

Duration – Fixed Term 1 Year (with a view to extend)



This is an exciting opportunity to join a diverse and welcoming team as a Specialty Doctor in Medical Oncology. Your job plan will cover clinical work, teaching, research and education, and you will be encouraged to have a clinical/education supervisor to support your professional development. It will be a standard 10PA = 40-hour p/w job plan, which is likely to include the following;

  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Prescribing chemotherapy and manage treatment complication
  • Supporting Consultants in Out-Patient clinics
  • Supporting the Acute Oncology Service
  • Covering the Chemotherapy Day Unit
  • Conducting ward rounds
  • Teaching Undergraduate/Postgraduate/junior colleagues
  • Participating in clinical trials
  • Attending relevant MDTs within your areas of interest

If you’re an overseas Consultant Oncologist and applying for your first NHS post, this Specialty Doctor contract will be an ideal opportunity for you to join the NHS in a supervised capacity to help you to acclimatise to the NHS system, receive relevant training and support through CESR to undertake a Consultant post in this Trust.


Cancer Centre

This is a rare opportunity to join one of the UK’s top bespoke cancer centres. The Trust offers general and specialist services and is continuing to develop and expand as a leading tertiary cancer services provider. The post holder will provide care to the local population and surrounding areas, in a dynamic team with an excellent national reputation for their cancer services. Large regional MDTs and clinical trials allow innovative research activities and opportunities to develop academically.

As an international doctor, you will be in a diverse team who are familiar with supporting overseas trained Oncologists in their career development in the NHS. There will be a supportive induction period as well as a clinical/educational supervisor to ensure that you feel comfortable and equipped in post.

  • You have the option of living in the London, with close access to all the amenities you’ll need. Alternatively, if busy city life isn’t right for you, you can live on the outskirts and benefit from a quieter lifestyle
  • There are excellent road and rail transport links, as well as several large airports for international flights

  • The region is extremely diverse, so whatever background you’re from, you’ll find a community and a home


The Requirements

In order to apply for the role, you will need:

  • GMC Registration
  • At least 4 years of experience in Medical Oncology

The following are desired, but not essential

  • Full MRCP or equivalent post-graduate qualification
