Clinical Fellow in General Paediatrics and Paediatric Emergency Medicine (ST4+ equivalent)
BDI Resourcing are seeking applicants for a Clinical Fellow in General Paediatrics and Paediatric Emergency Medicine (ST4+ equivalent). The position is within an advanced Trust that is home to one of the largest and busiest Emergency departments in London.
The post:
- This post is suitable for an experienced doctor interested in a career in Paediatrics or in Paediatric Emergency Medicine. The successful applicant will work entirely in the Paediatric Emergency Unit with a particular emphasis on improving the flow of patients through the hospital and effective decision making for patient turnover.
- They will work alongside the Paediatric Emergency Medicine Consultant team, Emergency Nurse Practitioners and other junior doctors covering this area. They will support and supervise the junior paediatric doctors as well as emergency department junior doctors.
Duties of post:
- All aspects of documentation and care of medical and surgical paediatric inpatients - Management of patients in Paediatric Emergency Department.
- Supervision and assistance to junior paediatric/emergency department colleagues.
- Research, improvement and audit: Involvement in the research, improvement and audit interests of the department will be encouraged.
Additional support:
- The supportive consultant team encourage and facilitate the appointee to further develop skills required to step up to consultant level.
Requirements:
- MRCPCH or equivalent is desirable.

- The candidate would be expected to have good all round experience in general paediatrics and neonatal intensive care equivalent to ST4+ (Speciality Training year 4 or higher).

Roles and Responsibilities:
- The post-holder will be provided with varied high quality training in neonatology which is tailored to the individual’s training needs and will have an allocated educational supervisor and funding similar to other trainees who are in the training programme.
- Transitional care is provided on a dedicated unit within the postnatal ward.
- Patient safety, dignity and care are the highest priority and at the centre of all that you do.
- To provide high quality care to patients, including clinical leadership and supervision of junior medical staff, ensuring the highest standards of clinical care are provided to all patients attending the hospital.
- To be proactive in ensuring that all patients receive rapid assessment, treatment and clinical decision making, whilst ensuring our standard to deliver safe quality and performance are delivered and sustained.
- To provide teaching and training to undergraduates.
- To be proactive in the Departments clinical governance agenda, thereby abiding by the clinical and corporate governance policies of the Trust.
- To participate in relevant audit and quality assurance processes.
Requirments:
MRCPCH, GMC registration and NHS experience working in Neonatology/NICU.
