Role

• A ST3-level Trust Doctor post is available for 12 months within the Gastroenterology Department.
• The post would suit a doctor who has completed core medical training and is looking to increase their experience at SpR level.
• Duties would include acting in the capacity of a Gastroenterology SpR, leading and supporting the junior doctor team on the wards.
• You will be encouraged to attend outpatient clinics and will have the opportunity to train in endoscopy.
• You will also be encourgaed to take an active part in research, and there will be the potential to develop a project around endoscopy training, as well as hepatology research.
• Although this post is technically non-training you will have named clinical supervisor and should keep a portfolio of your experience and learning during your time with us.
• The Gastroenterology Department is based on Ward 11 (28 beds) and looks after patients with gastroenterology and hepatology presentations.
• We see the full range of gastroenterology and hepatology outpatients, and run a nurse led liver clinic.
• We have a large endoscopy department with 4 endoscopy rooms, offering upper and lower GI endoscopy, therapeutic endoscopies, ERCP, nasal endoscopy and complex EMR/ESD.
• We also have a video capsule endoscopy service. A range of endoscopy courses are run in-house, including basic skills courses.
• The post includes an out-of-hours commitment within our EWTD compliant Medical SpR rota if desired.

Role:

• This NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Consultant Physician in General Medicine
• This is an opportunity to join an organisation in which Clinicians are at the forefront of management. 
• This is a new post to support the development of medical services and contribute to the acute medicine on call rota.
• The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop a special interest to complement those of our other departments.  
• The primary responsibility of the post will be the ongoing medical care of patients
• Ward 2 is a 27 bedded general medical unit caring for a mix of patients with medical conditions requiring inpatient treatment.  
• Additionally the postholder will support the Ambulatory Care Service and undertake outpatient clinic work depending on specialty interest.
• There is also a requirement to undertake on call for the unselected medical take on a one in eight rotation.

Role:

• We are a friendly, motivated and supportive department seeing approximately 70,000 patients each year.
• We achieve the 98% access target and are proud that we provide a high quality, patient focused service to the local population.
• The role is a Trust Doctor in Medicine. The post involves duties on a full shift basis of 40 hours.
• The Trust Doctor in acute medicine takes part in the on-call rota, 1:10 with prospective cover and has the clinical responsibility with day to day provision of routine and emergency medical care to a level appropriate to the grade for all patients on the Clinical Decision Unit.
• There are sub-specialities available in HCOOP, Endo & Diabetes and Gastroenterology.

Role:

The Trust provides a full range of local and specialist hospital services across its different sites.

The Trust is recognised internationally for its work in liver disease and transplantation, neurosciences, cardiac, haemato-oncology, fetal medicine, stroke, major trauma, and Emergency Department.

The post would offer excellent experience for doctors planning a career in general medicine. We can offer a wide range of subspecialty experience and educational opportunities to support professional development. You will be able to take part in speciality clinics (subject to specialty approval) and get involved in teaching of under- and post-graduate or participation in service improvement projects.

The appointee will join 6 clinical fellows and work with 14 consultants, in a hugely supported environment with consultant presence on the unit between 08:00 – 21:30, which offers the ideal setting for a trainee to develop further the required skills of a medical registrar.
