Medical Oncology positions at an NHS Trust in the North of England have been created to welcome 5 new IMGs on a Specialty Doctor contract!
The post:
- The successful applicant will join a friendly, enthusiastic and innovative team, committed to supporting your Continued Professional Development (CPD) as an NHS Oncologist. The post holder will Work alongside a team of Consultants and Specialist Registrars as well as with the wider cancer multi-disciplinary to deliver exceptional cancer care throughout the region. The exact tumour site and outpatient work commitment will depend on the interests and skills of the successful candidate, as well as the needs of the Cancer Centre

- The Department is actively involved in audit and research and the successful applicant will have access to a varied educational programme and all training opportunities available to the existing specialist trainees. There will be no on-call commitments for this post, unless specifically requested by the successful applicant
Duties of post:
- Support and work alongside the Consultant Oncologists and Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialists.
- Participate in oncology outpatient clinics, seeing new and follow-up patients under the supervision of the Consultant Oncologists.
- Support the oncology day unit and the delivery of systemic anti-cancer therapies.
- Participate in the teaching and assessment of doctors in training and medical students.
- Provide ward rounds and specialist medical advice for the Acute Oncology Service (AOS), working closely with the AOS clinical nurse specialists and under the supervision of the Consultant Oncologists.
- To be involved in the developments of the specialty as part of the Oncology team.
- Actively contribute to MDT and morbidity & mortality meetings
Additional support offered:
- Substantial protected time will be given to help support the clinical trials team with active participation in clinical research within an oncology research portfolio.
- Academic support will be provided to a successful applicant wishing to pursue further post-graduate and/or Royal College qualifications (for example, MRCP SCE in Medical Oncology).
- Job plans to be agreed in accordance with successful applicant’s areas of interest alongside service requirements.
- SPAs will be provided as part of the successful applicant’s job plan for those building a CESR portfolio for GMC Specialist Registration.
- The post holder’s professional progress will be reviewed annually by the supervising Consultant.
