An exciting opportunity has arisen to join and expand further a dynamic and well-respected Acute Medicine team in the North West of England.


The post:

  • This is a post to support management of patients within the Acute Medical Unit.
  • The postholder will be supervised by a named Consultant with adequate administration time allocated.
  • The role includes assisting the Consultant on the ward rounds, acute follow up and ambulatory clinics.
  • The appointed Doctor will have the opportunity to show personal initiative in the running of services for assessment of ambulatory care patients

Duties: 

  • You will be encouraged to participate in the postgraduate education programme, audit and research and will also be allowed time and funding for study leave according to the Trust policy.
  • Be involved in the care of new arrivals.
  • Help the acute/general medical take and support the on-call registrar.
  • Be involved in writing discharge summaries and communicating with GPs on any follow up investigations (admin time provided).
  • To liaise with other health care organisations, social services, general practitioners, voluntary organisations.
  • To competently perform procedures, teach and supervise junior team members to do procedures.
