A position has opened up at one of the most prestigious NHS Trusts in the North West of England for a Specialty Doctor in Acute Medicine! This post has been highly requested among our Doctors so we are so pleased to be able to offer these interview spaces in the upcoming weeks! 


The post: 

  • These are full-time positions but candidates wishing to work part-time or job-share are encouraged to apply. If a person is appointed on a part-time or job-share basis the job plan will be modified following discussion with the appointee.
  • These new full-time posts are an exciting opportunity for ambitious specialty doctors to join the department in the provision of general medical and specialist services.
  • The post holder will seek opportunities to develop knowledge, skills and experience and be expected to maintain continued professional development to satisfy the requirement of yearly appraisals including attendance at relevant courses and conferences, involvement at locally organised CME events and comparative audit.
  • These posts will be ward based providing senior cover during the day and support to medical trainees and nursing staff.

The duties of the post:

  • To assist in the provision of a comprehensive general medical service under the supervision of designated consultants.
  • To participate in the day-to-day management of Acute patients on the wards.
  • You will be required to co-operate with local clinical and operational managers as well as contributing to the efficient running of general medical services.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to play their part in the postgraduate activities, teaching and clinical audit.
  • The post holder will be expected to play their part in postgraduate activities and teaching. This will include contribution to education and training programmes for hospital medical staff, GPs and other groups of hospital staff.

  • The Trust believes that every newly appointed specialty doctor should be offered a mentoring opportunity and the mentoring arrangements for the person recommended for appointment.
  • The Trust is keen to support specialty doctors who wish to obtain further qualifications and experience. Those wishing to obtain specialist registration through the CESR route will be encouraged to do so and supported by the Trust.
