An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a dynamic and cohesive team of paediatricians at the Trust
The paediatric consultants in the Hospital currently do a 1:12 general paediatric consultant rota and cover both general paediatrics and neonatology out of hours. The expectation is that the general paediatric and neonatal rotas will be split in the near future.
The general paediatric department at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has seen increased activity year on year and deals with many complex illnesses, including tertiary safeguarding work. The department is now expanding and working towards developing new models of care to improve efficiencies and patient experience.
The service developments that are key to ensuring the Hospital leads the way in Paediatric Medicine include:
- Implementation of Consultant led telephone triage, liaising directly with GPs to provide advice as well as reduce unnecessary attendances to our Children’s Assessment & Treatment unit and also delivering an e-mail advice service for GPs
- Development of an effective outpatient model ensuring capacity correlates with demand, reducing unnecessary appointments
- Introduction of Video Consultations for appropriate clinics
- Implementation of additional community Hubs to reduce/prevent outpatient attendances
- Dedicated named doctor specialising in safeguarding
Must have MRCPCH and GMC in process and MUST have ‘some‘ previous experience in NHS
