The department are looking for a dedicated, motivated Doctor to join a team of 7 full time substantive Consultants. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to work in a warm, friendly, career driven team! You will have the opportunity to go through CESR to become on the   specialist register.

On top of this, there is an opportunity to take on an Educational Supervisor role!


Main Duties:

  • The applicant will be responsible for the assessment, investigation, and management of patients
  • You will be play a large role in providing clinical leadership and senior decision making within Geriatric and Frailty team
  • Take responsibility for the management of patients admitted to his/her specialty Elderly Care ward
  • Subspecialty Interests are welcomed in this department.
  • Participate in the outpatient clinics
  • On call and weekend work, you will cover Acute Frailty on call but this does not involve doing GIM or night cover.
  • On call frequency is 1:6
  • An opportunity to take on a Educational Supervisor role.
  • There are currently 4 Doctors going through CESR now in the department.
  • Leadership roles are encouraged and active participation in teaching, quality improvement and research encouraged

The Hospital:

The Elderly care department has 10 substantive consultants and 2 locum consultants. They provide input to elderly care / Acute Frailty Unit / Orthogeriatric and a range of outpatient as well as community-based services.

Each ward has full staffing complement. The Elderly Care team currently provide a wide range of hospital and community-based services including Acute Frailty, Stroke, Ortho-geriatric services as well as Parkinson’s disease clinics. Also, an exciting brand new 22 bedded Acute Frailty Unit has just opened!

With access to a comprehensive library this gives you the maximum chance to keep you knowledge up to date and allows staff to keep abreast of the latest research developments in any specialty.


Requirements:

The team are looking for individuals with senior decision making capability, strong management and leadership skills, and effective communication in a busy acute setting.

  • Full MRCP or equivalent
  • GMC registration with a license to practice or in the final stages
  • Experience as a senior clinician – Consultant, Specialist, Specialty Doctor etc.
  • UK experience is desirable
