The successful post holder will join an innovative team of Consultant Medical Oncologists, to deliver an Oncology service in one of the largest Trusts in the UK that provides expert treatment to patients across the South East.
This is an exciting opportunity for a doctor in oncology to join a diverse and friendly team in the South East of England. The post will be a balanced mixture of inpatient and outpatient clinical activity with tumour site rotations to support wider NHS oncology exposure and signing-off competencies for CESR portfolio. Relevant further clinical and educational supervision will be encouraged to support long-term professional development in oncology. The Cancer Centre is part of a University Hospital Trust which serves a population of nearly 2 million. There are several hospital sites, and this post is likely to be based at the two main Oncology hospitals. The radiotherapy facilities provided in the two main hospitals include CT simulators and LinAcs. Treatment is VMAT delivered with IGRT and there will be the opportunity to work in SABR and brachytherapy. There are custom-built Oncology outpatient clinics and chemo units and a well-established acute oncology service which is well-staffed by nurses.
You will be a part of a multi-disciplinary team, working with consultants, surgeons, physicians, and nurse specialists and contribute towards regular multidisciplinary team meetings. There are trainee registrars rotating in the Trust, so you’ll have lots of opportunities for teaching and training. The Cancer Centre is home to active cancer research teams which actively run clinical trials and collaborate closely with local Medical Schools and Universities.

This is a perfect opportunity for someone hoping to build on their NHS Oncology experience or an overseas trained doctor stepping into their first NHS Oncology role. You will be assigned an educational supervisor who will closely support you with relevant and appropriate academic qualifications. The clinical duties will give you a wide exposure to solid-site malignancies in 6-month rotations, as well as optional protected radiotherapy planning time should you wish to develop as a Clinical Oncologist.
