This amazing hospital has recently started actioning long-term plans to expand their Geriatric Medicine department, as a result they are looking for a new Specialty Doctor to join their team. As a Specialty Doctor in Geriatric Medicine, you will play a vital role in the diagnosis, treatment and management of elderly patients who will typically present a range of complex issues and challenges.
Geriatric Medicine presents some interesting and unique challenges as elderly patients usually present a variety of medical conditions covering multiple disciplines. If you’re looking to work as part of a growing specialty with a dynamic workload where no day is the same, this is the right post for you. This role also suits doctors who are looking to get their Medicine core competencies signed off to advance into the training system later on. This post will also suit doctors who’s long-term ambition is to become a Consultant in Geriatric Medicine.
You will be expected to diagnose, treat and manage elderly patients who present a variety of medical conditions.
Participate in the on call rota as required.
You will have to participate in multi-disciplinary meetings to ensure patients are provided with a high level of care.
Take part in clinical audits, quality improvement projects and research opportunities taking place at the hospital.
Teach and supervise junior doctors, medical students and nurses on a regular basis.
Stay up to date with regards to clinical skills and knowledge with appropriate CPD. You will be entitled to a period of study leave to help you fulfil this duty.
