The Diabetes and Endocrinology team are looking for experienced individuals to contribute towards senior clinical decision making within the department. You will be leading a team of junior doctors, Registrars and Specialty Doctors in delivery high quality Endocrinology and General Medical care.
This is an exciting opportunity as Diabetes and Endocrinology roles can be quite competitive. This is an excellent chance for a doctor with experience in Endocrinology and Internal Medicine experience to utilise their skills in an exciting new role.
The Trust delivers care to over half a million people every year and manages care across inpatient, outpatient, diagnostic and maternity services. You will largely be receiving patients from ED, Acute Medicine and community services. This is a multidisciplinary role where you will work closely with colleagues including diabetologists, specialist diabetes nurses, specialist endocrine nurses, dieticians, psychologists and podiatrists.
The teams across the different Medical teams also work closely together, including the Geriatric, Acute Medicine, General Medicine, Cardiology, Respiratory, Stroke, Neurology and Emergency Medicine departments.
The team delivers a range of specialist Diabetes and Endocrinology clinics, including Diabetic Foot Disease, Diabetes and Endocrine Pregnancy Disorders, Young Adult and Transitional clinics in diabetes, Insulin Pump Clinics, Thyroid & Parathyroid Clinic, Weight Management Clinic and of course general Diabetes and Endocrine Clinics.
If this will be your first role in the NHS, then the first 6-12 months will involve an extensive induction period where you will be fully supported in settling into the new healthcare system. If you have UK experience, this induction period will be shorter, per your requirements. Once ready, work towards the Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) pathway can begin, gathering evidence to get onto the specialist register and become a substantive Consultant. The Trust will be working with senior doctors to gather this evidence and are driven to help as many people as possible complete CESR.
The hospital is based in a small city in Yorkshire, within 40 minutes of two of the largest cities in the north of England. This gives the opportunity to either live in the smaller city for a peaceful way of life, or to live in the larger cities for a more bustling environment and commuting into work. You can shape your experience around the needs of yourself and any family you’ll be bringing with you. There are 39 schools rated ‘Good’ and ‘Outstanding’ in the 3 miles surrounding the hospital.
