The Radiology Service covers the whole trust and the radiology team contribute to service provision at the Hospital with occasional cross site working. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to diagnostic and interventional radiology and be an active member of the interventional team
The successful candidate will be required to contribute to the general workload including plain film, CT and ultrasound. MR reporting will be encouraged if suitably trained. We will also encourage and support development towards any special interests such as Oncology / MSK / GI Radiology / Urology and Breast.

The post is for a general cross sectional radiologist, with an option to explore specific subspecialties of potential interest to the candidate.
The successful applicant will support the current delivery of Radiology services. The post holder will share in the responsibility for the management of the Radiology services at this busy hospital.
The post holder will be expected to take part in the Diagnostic on-call consultant rota for Radiology. The out of hours on call commitment will be approximately 1 in 18. Clinical responsibility and managerial leadership within the Radiology department will be shared by the Consultants.
The appointee will join the existing team of 21 Radiologists to provide specialist care to this growing population of patients, and raise departmental profiles through teaching and education.
The aim of the Trusts radiology department is to become a leader in the field of diagnostic and interventional Radiology services and the successful applicant must therefore have the pre-requisite leadership skills, drive and ambition to succeed in achieving these goals as a team. Additional radiology sessions are available to support an additional subspecialist interest depending on the candidate’s expertise.

The main department provides a full range of radiology services to an extremely large population. The acute commitment is currently shared between 9 radiologists Monday to Thursday and 11 radiologists at weekends (Friday to Sunday) with prospective cover. This busy department provides general body imaging, neuroradiology and cardiac imaging.
We are looking for dynamic colleagues with enthusiasm and leadership qualities. You must have sub-speciality training in breast radiology. Training in screening to the standard of the NHSBSP is desirable but could be arranged following appointment if required.

You will be expected to contribute towards the general radiology workload and the general on call rota including weekend working, as well as audit, teaching, research and MDT meetings. This is an excellent opportunity for a new CCT holder to commence consultant practice in a supportive environment, or for an experienced Radiologist to further develop their career in a busy unit.

There are comprehensively equipped ultrasound and nuclear medicine rooms, digital fluoroscopy equipment and a theatre specification digital intervention room at QA. The department is filmless with a Sectra PACS system and an HSS RIS system.
