Main Duties:

  • This role is ideal for someone looking to develop their clinical experience and skills in Cardiology and General Medicine.
  • You will be providing clinical support to the Cardiology and General Medicine Consultant teams, as well as working with a team of junior doctors.
  • To be part of a team where the delivery of high-quality and patient-focussed care is of the utmost importance in your day-to-day practise.
  • You will be treating patients admitted to the specialised Coronary Care Unit. This level of Cardiology involvement means it is an excellent opportunity for doctors who have some previous Cardiology experience or are looking to develop their skillset.
  • To be part of a multidisciplinary team to provide Cardiological and General Medicine support across the hospital. You will be working with teams across medical and surgical sub-specialties to provide cardiology expertise.
  • To participate in and run Cardiology outpatient clinics in the hospital.
  • Oncalls are from the unselected acute take which means you will continue developing your Acute and General Medicine skills. It is a 1:10 oncall rota.
  • To be an active part of the education programme within the Medicine department.
  • You will be expected to keep up to date with your own training, courses and education related to your field.
  • You will also be involved in teaching and training of junior doctors.
  • Involvement in audits and quality improvement in the department.
  • While this is not a formal training role, you will have access to the same study leave allowances and training opportunities as the UK trainees. This means it is an excellent steppingstone from a service position into the UK training system.

The Hospital:

The hospital has a modest 300 beds and provides clinical care to around 150,000 residents. It is an integrated acute, community, mental health and ambulance care provider so is a clinically diverse Trust. The hospital provides a wide range of services and also has close links with its surrounding Trusts.

The Trust has a full post-graduate education programme and puts emphasis on continuous professional development so is an ideal option for an applicant looking to further their career.

The location:

The hospital is located in a lovely coastal town in the south of England. It is a quiet location with beautiful countryside nearby and access to some of the most picturesque beaches in the UK. The town itself has good access to the necessary amenities so you will have access to everything you need.


The team are open to applicants from the UK or from overseas and will support you in settling into the new role.

  • Full MRCP (or equivalent post-graduate qualification)
  • GMC Registration either waiting ID check or Complete
  • OET or IELTS
  • 5+ years of clinical experience
  • Experience in General Medicine and/or Cardiology
