LAS ST3-8 Paediatrics and Neonatology
The team are looking for an experienced individual to join a committed group of clinicians in delivering Paediatric services at this large district general hospital.
The successful applicant will be joining an enthusiastic, dedicated team who cover a wide range of different specialties and provide general and sub specialist Paediatric care.
Main Duties:
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Participate in Paediatric and Neonatal Ward Rounds and liaise with a multi-disciplinary team.
- Engage in Registrar support for paediatric outpatient clinics.
- Take on-call duties in the Emergency Department.
- Undertake safeguarding medical examinations.
- Engage in quality improvement and participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and Audit.
- Participate in duties on the CAU, Paediatric Ward, Neonatal Unit (NNU) and in the Paediatric Outpatient Department.
- Participate in the tier two on call service.
- Share responsibility with colleagues for the day-to-day management of the Paediatric department.
- Fulfil the duties of the weekly timetable including any out-of-hours responsibilities.
- Maintain high clinical standards in the management of General Paediatric patients.
- Become acquainted with management protocols for Paediatrics and helping to update them.
- Undertake ward rounds in conjunction with a consultant.
- Supervise the clinical work of junior Paediatric doctors.
- Attend an APLS/NLS course if not already trained.
- Gain experience in teaching/ training of medical/ nursing staff.
- Ensure active participation in own continuing medical education.
The Department and Hospital:
This position is based at a medium sized teaching hospital in the Southwest of England. It serves a population of around 50,000 people and has an Emergency Department alongside a wide range of outpatient services. This hospital also boasts excellent education and training facilities.
The Trust provides Level 2 neonatal services, General Paediatric services and Community Paediatrics. However the post holder will not be expected to be involved in Community Paediatrics.
There will be opportunities to participate in outpatient work under supervision. The postholder will be encouraged to pursue areas of interest and in career development, including the provision of educational supervision

Requirements:

- Full MRCPCH
- IELTS or OET if you are coming from overseas
- GMC Registered or in process
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in a similar role, whether in the NHS or elsewhere
As well as the above, the following are also desirable, though not necessarily essential:
- Right to work in the UK (Skilled Worker Visa can be sponsored for overseas applicants)
- SCE or other recognised senior qualifications
- Life support qualifications such as APLS, NLS and BLS
- Experience with safeguarding cases

Consultant Paediatrician with interest in Diabetes
This NHS Trust are looking for an experienced Pediatric Diabetes and Endocrinology consultant to join a small but dedicated team. As this is a small unit, all consultants are expected to be involved in general paediatrics and neonatology on calls and so it is important to be comfortable in management of both SCBU and acute general cases.
Main Duties:
As a Consultant in Paediatrics Diabetes and Endocrinology, you will be expected to:
- Take the lead in Diabetes and Endocrine MDT Meetings.
- Be responsible for the management of children of all acute and chronic endocrine and diabetes disorders.
- Comfortable with intubation and resuscitation of babies from 32 weeks gestation and above.

ST4+ in General Paediatrics and Neonatology
The team are looking for an experienced individual with previous NHS experience to join their team.
The successful applicant will be joining an enthusiastic, dedicated team who cover a wide range of different specialties and provide general and sub specialist paediatric care.
Main Duties:
As an ST4+ in General Paediatrics and Neonatology you will be expected to:
- Attend ward rounds, out-patient clinics and visit to individual patients as necessary.
- Participate in the ‘Consultant of the week’ system on the children’s ward.
- Assess patients admitted to the paediatric assessment unit.
- Support timely completion of discharge summaries.
- Ensure high quality handover of patients to the on call or day team as appropriate.
- Cover the NICU, post-natal ward and the delivery suite.
- Undertake initial assessment and initiation oof treatment to newly admitted babies.
- Offer advice and support to the maternity staff in the care of newborns, particularly with the aim of avoiding admission to the neonatal unit.
- Undertake practical procedures.
- Contribute to the out of hours overnight on call rota.
