NHS Locum Consultant in Chronic Pain Management

A brilliant position has opened up at a picturesque location in North Wales! This is a new NHS Locum Consultant in Chronic Pain Management. The department is he only one in Wales to have ACSA accreditation for excellence!


The post: 

  • This post is open to full time or part time chronic pain consultants, with or without an anaesthetic commitment.
  • This job could be flexible to suit ‘pain only/ pain & anaesthetics’.
  • There is a multidisciplinary service engaged in the management of patients with chronic pain.
  • There are excellent working relationships within the pain team and an MDT meeting every other week is vital to ensure that there is seamless transfer of care as needed between the team members. There are several nurse and physiotherapy led groups including those for acupuncture, TENS and exercise/relaxation.

Duties: 

  • You would be expected to contribute to clinical and educational activities within the directorate and provide a high quality service to the local population including an emergency on-call commitment.
  • To assist with nominated consultants in the supervision and teaching of junior trainees.
  • To contribute to local clinical governance activities including clinical audit and clinical risk initiatives.
  • You will be required to co-operate with local management in the efficient running of services and expected to share with all colleagues in the medical contribution to management.
  • Subject to the Terms and Conditions of Service you will be expected to observe policies and procedures of the Health Board, drawn up in consultation with the profession where they involve clinical matters.
  • You will be expected to pursue local and national employment and personnel policies and procedures in the management of employees of the Health Board.

Requirements: 

  • Doctors must have previous chronic pain experience at Consultant level
  • Doctors must be happy to work in a beautiful rural location
  • GMC required 
  • FRCA or equivalent
