Incredibly supportive post available for an NHS Locum Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine. This is a remarkable opportunity for an individual currently working towards their CESR portfolio. The Trust is renowned for its vast number of subspecialty areas within Intensive Care and because of this have helped many IMGs through CESR. 


The post:

  • The hospital and department are renowned nationally and internationally for excellence in diagnosis, treatment and research of patients.
  • The post will have a flexible job plan for operating sessions and outpatient clinics. There are regular in-patient ward rounds in the critical care area and on the surgical wards.

Duties of the post: 

  • Provide assessment and treatment for cardiac surgery patients.
  • Provide assessment and treatment for transplant patients.
  • Be part of the consultant on call rota for organ retrieval, providing specially commissioned services such as paediatric and DCD heart retrievals. 
  • Contribute to the training, supervision, assessment and appraisal of junior doctors in accordance with standards required by the hospital, Royal College and Postgraduate Dean.
  • Participate in the training of other members of the surgical and transplant team.
  • Ensure that practice standards are maintained and developed through clinical audit, evidence-based research and appraisal.

  • CESR support can be provided for the right candidate to help complete a CESR portfolio. 

Requirements: 

  • FRCA or equivalent 
  • GMC Registration with post graduate
