BDI Resourcing are seeking an international doctor for a Registrar Geriatrics post within a University Hospital in the West Midlands.

You will be able to develop individualised educational goals including experience within all clinical areas covering the geriatric specialty curriculum, in the same way as a trainee on the specialty training programme.

We welcome applicants who are motivated to become part of the implementation of a new model of Acute Geriatric care, with enhanced and rapid specialty input, alongside an elderly frail medical assessment and admissions unit run by the Care of the Elderly team.

If you are looking for further geriatrics experience plus the ability to develop your sub-specialty interests, then you would be well suited to this position, which will both increase your level of confidence and provide strong CV development with the aim of securing a specialty training post.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Clerk patients admitted on emergency take days
  • Manage patient’s medical illnesses under supervision
  • Request investigations / treatments for patients
  • Take patient histories and carrying out routine patient examinations
  • Communicate with patients
  • Attend and undertake ward rounds as required
  • Provide cover for colleagues in an emergency and when on annual / study leave
  • Participate in the training of medical students attached to the Firm
  • Provide discharge summaries etc
  • To promote good liaison with General Practitioners,
  • Liaise with patients' relatives and provide on-call services as required
  • Although this post does not have a recognized training number, the educational opportunities are the same and can count towards training experience

Post Requirements

This post requires full MRCP and a pass in IELTS or OET.
