The Role
This post will form part of a team delivering General Internal Medicine and supporting the development of sub-speciality interest of either Internal General Medicine or Acute Medicine to the hospitals and community, so designated with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness.

Role:
1. To provide rapid assessment of acute medical patients.
2 To stabilise and manage patients admitted with medical emergencies
3 To carry out post-take ward rounds during the week.
4 To maintain effective communication and handover to the on-call team.
5 To support emergency services, liaising with other departments including Accident & Emergency, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation and Community Care, and developing speciality teams and fast-track services.
6. To work in Same Day Emergency Care (SDCE), previously Ambulatory Emergency care unit to avoid admissions

Role:
The posts will be in the Elderly Care Medicine for 12 months with possible extension
There are 2 posts
post 1: will be working 1-13 on call rota per week
Post 2: will be working a 10PAs per week 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday
Successful candidates will be working with other middle grade staff to provide first line of support for Specialty Trainees and Foundation Doctors and take the lead in the care of the seriously ill patients; see and treat all categories of patients in Frail/Elderly Care/Geriatric and General Internal Medicine.
