Plymouth has a diverse educational estate with 99 schools including 72 primary schools and 16 secondary schools. Around 89% of two year olds are taking up free early education places, which is significantly higher than the national (68%). Most schools in the Plymouth area have received an Ofsted rating of ‘good’ with some also receiving a rating of ‘outstanding’. The University of Plymouth has a thriving international community of 3,000 students from over 100 countries studying full and part time programmes at the University.
National Marine Aquarium
Located in the city next to the Barbican and fishmarket lies the UK’s largest aquarium, offering superb educational programs and displays. Exhibits cover all of the worlds oceans with over 70 species of sharks
Royal Parade and Drake Circus
Plymouth has a lively and bustling city centre with a variety of retail avenues. Just off of Royal Parade, is Drake Circus, a pedestrian zone with passageway of shops, restaurants, cinemas and even a mini-golf adventure park.
Crown Hill Fort
Built in the 1860’s, Crownhill fort is the largest and best preserved of Plymouths Victorian Forts. Here you can find and explore cannons, tunnels, ramparts and moats and you can take part in numerous historic re-enactments as well as guided tours.
Mount Batten Water sports and Activity Centre
The Mount Batten centre is open all year round and welcomes families, friends, individuals and schools to participate in many water and land based activities. From sailing to stand up paddle boarding, kayaking to multi-adventure days there’s something for everyone here.
Plymouth Snowsports Centre
One of the first things you will see when entering Plymouth is the large ski slope and Snowsports Centre. Plymouth Snowsports Centre is a year round venue for 650m of exhilarating Tobogganing at the Cresta Run, Tubing, Viper Drop, lift passes, and ski or snowboard lessons. The Centre features 4 slopes and a button lift, offering unrivaled riding in the West Country. The Alpine Lodge serves Coffee and has a good selection of freshly prepared hot and cold meals. Set in the peaks of Plymouth, the centre overlooks the beautiful Plym valley. With cascading scenery of lush greenery, it's the perfect view without any interruptions.
