Religion and places to worship in Bristol

Finding a familiar community when relocating is key. Bristol benefits from a wide variety of religions and cultures that cultivate inspiring and vibrant communities! Below is just some of Bristol's places of worship - the variety speaks for itself!


Orthodox Jewish Park Row Synagogue

Park Row Synagogue is home to Bristol’s oldest Jewish community. Housed in a centrally located Victorian synagogue, they are highly regarded locally and nationally as an independent community offering inclusive orthodox services.

The Bristol and West Progressive Jewish Congregation

Affiliated with Liberal Judaism, The Bristol and West Progressive Jewish Congregation is located on Bannerman Road, Easton, Bristol; the synagogue building is now open to members and friends for Shabbat morning services.

Al Baseera Mosque and Islamic Information Centre

Albaseera Bristol Centre is situated near the city centre of Bristol. It gives easy access to Muslims working in Central Bristol as well as the highly populated Easton, Barton Hill and St Paul’s areas. The centre facilitates 300+ worshippers.

The Greek Orthodox Church of St. Peter and St. Paul

St Peter and St Paul Bristol is the church of Bristol's principal Greek Orthodox congregation. It is situated in the Lower Ashley Road. The building was constructed in the 1840s as the Church of St Simon.

Hindu Temple

Located on 163B Church Road, The Bristol Hindu Temple is a place of Worship, Social gathering and Celebrating cultural activities of the Hindu Faith.

Nirman Sewak Jatha-Sikh Temple

There are four Sikh Temples or Gurdwara's in the city. Nirman Sewak Jatha-Sikh Temple is located in Fishponds Road, Eastville.

Bristol Jamia Mosque

The Bristol Jamia Mosque is a mosque in the Totterdown area of Bristol. It was the first mosque in Bristol and is currently the largest in the south west of England.

Lam Rim Buddhist Centre

A group of practising Buddhists established the Lam Rim Bristol Buddhist Centre in 1988. It is located in a quiet cul-de-sac in the South of Bristol, not far from Bristol city centre.

Bristol Cathedral (Anglican)

From the north (M4/M5) – exit at Junction 19 of the M4 on to the M32 southbound.  Come to the end of the motorway and follow the brown visitor signs towards the city centre and @Bristol/A4.  You will pass the Bristol Aquarium on the left and can turn left at Millennium Square for the car park.

Public parking is available at Millennium Square and on St George's Street, behind the council buildings. 

Clifton Cathedral (Roman Catholic)

Clifton Cathedral (The Cathedral Church of Saints Peter and Paul) in Bristol is the Mother Church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Clifton. You can watch Mass live from the Cathedral every day via the live-stream here.
