A snapshot into… Huddersfield

On the banks of the River Colne, in West Yorkshire, Huddersfield is about 189 miles north-northwest of London and 16 miles southwest of Leeds. There are about 143,500 people living in the town. Officially, it is a part of Kirklees Metropolitan Borough, which has a population of over 391,000 and a total area of about 408 square kilometers.

Huddersfield is known for being home of the rugby league as the town is known to have invented the sport in 1895. The local team, Huddersfield Giants, now play at The John Smith's Stadium.

Things to do in Huddersfield:

Greenhead Park

The town of Huddersfield, is home to Greenhead Park, an urban park that is situated 0.5 miles to the west of the town. It was first opened in 1884 and is one of Huddersfield's biggest parks. It is also a Conservation Area and a Grade II English Heritage listed building.

The John Smith’s Stadium

The John Smith’s Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Huddersfield in West Yorkshire, England. Since 1994, it has been the home ground of football club Huddersfield Town and rugby league side Huddersfield Giants, both of whom moved from Leeds Road.

Whistlestop Valley

Scenic spot in the Pennine foothills with steam-train rides plus a play area, shop, cafe & tea room.

Lawrence Batley Theatre

Art space including live performance, a dynamic exhibition program and meet-the-artist events.
