A snapshot into... Salford

With its glittering architecture and waterfront cafés, Salford Quays is a modern hub for culture and leisure. The city's green spaces, which make up more than half of the area, include forests, moss lands, natural preserves, parklands, and charming towns. There are many different wildlife habitats spread across hundreds of acres of breath-taking parks.

Calling all sports enthusiasts, Salford have world famous football, rugby and cricket to choose from. The AJ Bell Stadium is home to top flight teams from rugby league, Salford Red Devils, and rugby union, Sale Sharks, with Manchester United Football Club and Lancashire Cricket Club both within kicking distance of the city.

Salford is a crucial component of the business and culture advancing England's north west because of its proximity to Manchester's metropolitan centre. Salford and Manchester are in a special position because of their relationship, which opens up a wide range of possibilities, including the possibility for business relocation and development, the establishment of Salford's waterways and watersides as important regional and national visitor attractions, and the transformation of the city into a desirable place to live within Greater Manchester.

The NHS and Salford

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust brings together staff and services from Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust (SRFT) and The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust (PAT). The NCA FT was formally established on 1 October 2021 and has been working together as a group since 2016.

Salford Care Organisation is responsible for a range of community and primary care services across the city and at Salford Royal Hospital. It also provides specialist services to Greater Manchester and beyond. Salford Royal was the first hospital in the north of England to achieve the highest rating of outstanding by the Care Quality Commission. It’s now the major trauma centre for Greater Manchester and the hub site for high-risk emergency general surgery for Salford, Bolton and Wigan.

Education in Salford

Salford is well known as a channel for academic and business talent. Children get a great start at a wide range of schools, further education colleges and the award-winning University of Salford.

MediaCityUK Host cultural and sporting attractions, cinemas, world class events, shopping, an abundance of bars and restaurants and a diversity of people living and working here - atmosphere is certainly something that is never lacking. The main tenant here is the BBC, who have moved a lot of their operations from London to Salford Quays as part of a decentralisation scheme.

Salford Museum & Art Gallery

Architecturally, the Salford Museum & Art Gallery is an unusual fusion of Victorian and modern styles. Originally constructed in 1850, this stunning structure today houses the Local History Library, The Collections Gallery, The Victorian Gallery, temporary exhibition spaces, Museum shop, and Café.

Home to Rugby Super League’s Salford Red Devils and Gallagher Premiership’s Sale Sharks, the 12,000-capacity stadium offers unrivalled event space.
