According to the government schools website, Chesterfield has access to 41 primary schools, 11 secondary schools, and 6 sixth forms/colleges.
The University of Derby also has one of their sites in Chesterfield, which is specifically for nurses in training. The University site has been labelled a ‘Centre of Excellence for Health and Social Care’ and their nursing courses are ranked 14th in the Guardian University Guide 2020. They have a very strong relationship with the Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS foundation Trust.
Chesterfield Canal
The Chesterfield Canal offers a peaceful retreat with beautiful countryside and plenty of wildlife to enjoy. Five miles of the canal have been restored between Chesterfield and Staveley. You can enjoy regular trips on the Madeline from Hollingwood Hub or the John Varley II from Tapton Lock in Chesterfield.

Chesterfield Town Centre
The compact, friendly environment of Chesterfield town centre is home to high street names, a wealth of independents and of course the town’s famous outdoor market. Explore narrow medieval streets such as The Shambles for unique independent shops or visit Vicar Lane and The Pavements Shopping Centre for popular high street names. And don’t forget Chesterfield market, one of the biggest open-air markets in the country.
Matlock Farm Park
Matlock Farm Park is open all year round and hopes to give families a wonderful visit in the fresh air and tranquility of the countryside. The park has a large selection of animals including llamas, goats, meerkats, turkeys, peacocks, deer, cattle, wallabies, ducks, alpacas and sheep to name but a few. Horse riding lessons and pony trekking is also available. Indoor and Outdoor Play areas are available, with a go-kart track and play areas. A licensed café is on site serving delicious homemade food.
Queens Park Sports Centre
Queen’s Park Sport Centre provides you with an incredible health and fitness offering with affordable memberships to suit everyone, including student and family memberships. The centre has a 90 station gym, an eight-lane swimming pool, a learner pool with children's fun water features, an eight court sports hall, two glass-back squash courts and group exercise class studios.
